In a momentous move for Lucknow, the city’s first-ever Army Day Parade is scheduled for January 2024 and the preparations are well under way. Expected to be hosted in all grandeur, this event will mark only the second time since Independence of the glorious parade taking place outside Delhi. This year, the parade was held outside Delhi for the first time, in Bengaluru.
On January 15, 2024, the 76th Army Day Parade will be conducted by Surya Command (Central Command of the Indian Army) at Lucknow Cantonment’s 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre.

The parade will see some of the most notable regiments’ marching contingents of the Indian Army, namely Garhwal Rifles, Jat Regiment, Sikh Light Infantry, Bengal Engineers, Army Air Defence, Paratroopers, and the like.
Additionally, gallantry awardees of the army will be honoured during the event. As part of the grand celebrations, the military display ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ will also be organised at Surya Khel Parisar. Along with the above, the Indian Air Force will be a part of the parade and will, with a fly-past, provide a glimpse into a world of the vast skies. The Indian Army’s motorcycle team will perform a daredevil display along with the aerial celebrations.
Drawing attention to the historic affair, numerous outreach initiatives are being organised across Surya Command, like blood donation campaigns, military band concerts, tree plantation drives, the Know Your Army Festival, amongst others.
