In a bid to increase the female soldier strength in the armed forces, the Indian Army has launched an open drive for female recruitment at Lucknow Cantonment. As per reports, these drives were suspended with the effect of the pandemic, extending the hiatus from March 2020 to October 2020. The Additional Director General (ADG)-Recruiting of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand stated that recruitment operations resumed in November last year.

Since then, it is the first such drive which is pivoting around women, he added. Preventive protocols and negative RT-PCR tests have been made mandatory for this process to minimise the threat of the spread and transmission of infection. An impressive and enthusiastic turnout of 8000 women have registered for this drive and for recruitment the woman must pass the physical test successfully, stated the ADG. Interested women can register for this drive by accessing the details on the Army's online portal.

Extending up to 4 days, the rally will cover all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and 15 in Uttarakhand, informed the recruitment General. He has also encouraged people to participate in physical exercise to boost the immunity of the body, a necessity in the present circumstance of a virus outbreak.
