From Lucknow's Chikankari handicrafts to Thaggu Ke Laddu from Kanpur, soon you will be able to buy ODOP goods in trains!

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new One Station One Product scheme to enable shopping and delivery of UP ODOP items to passengers in the trains. An initiative aimed at bolstering the sales of One District One Product, the move will be a big step towards spreading awareness about famous products, crafts and specialities of different regions in the state. Reportedly, the service will be available for public use in a month.

Book on the app & receive it when you stop at the city station, famous for the product

Carving a new track to promote the Uttar Pradesh ODOP scheme, IRCTC has decided to offer bonafide products under this programme on its official website. IRCTC will upload the list of famous products from each district of UP on its website and mobile application. People can book the product of their choice online, and receive the same when they arrive on the station of any city, famous for the products.

From Dussehri mangoes to Chikankari handicrafts from Lucknow, Moradabad's Brassware, Soorma from Bareilly and Thaggu Ke Laddu from Kanpur, commuters can get whatever they want in the comfort of their train seats.

How will the new 'One Station One Product' system work?

Ajit Kumar Sinha, Chief Regional Manager, IRCTC, Lucknow informed that the ODOP scheme will be promoted on a priority basis, in line with the instructions of the Railway Board. All prerequisites to add convenience for passengers are currently underway, added the CRM of IRCTC, Lucknow. Passengers can avail of the benefits of this scheme within a month's time.

As part of this initiative, passengers will be able to buy their desired ODOP items from various UP districts while travelling in trains. As soon as the passenger enters their PNR number, the list of stations on the route will be displayed on the screen. Travellers can then choose any product from those stations and it will be given to them when the train reaches the said station.

For instance, if someone is travelling from Gorakhpur to Delhi and they choose to buy a Chikankari dress from Lucknow, they can book it on the application. When the train reaches Lucknow, the passenger will be given the item that they had booked beforehand.
