The human rights commission has asked for a detailed report about the vaccination of individuals housed in the jails within 4 weeks. Through this draft, the authorities are required to inform about the count of prison dwellers who have been administered vaccine jabs during the first two phases of immunisation. As a part of the current round, individuals over the age of 60 and those between 45 and 60 with co-morbidity(s) shall be eligible to avail of the benefits of vaccination schedules.

The Human Rights authority has also mandated that prison officers must ensure that the number of inmates does not exceed the authorised capacity of a jail. With these orders, officials in Uttar Pradesh attempt to safeguard the prisoners and the jail staff against the deadly coronavirus.
