Imagine a classroom where an autistic child who doesn’t speak isn’t labelled “non-verbal”, but recognised as a communicator. Where a kid who can’t sit still isn’t a problem to be managed, they’re a learner finding their rhythm. That’s the everyday reality at JAMI Learning, a neuroaffirming school and therapy centre in Nirala Nagar, Lucknow, built on one radical idea; every child deserves the dignity to learn, speak, and succeed in their own way.
Lucknow’s inclusive school for every child
JAMI isn’t just a name, it’s a philosophy. Joint. Adaptive. Multisensory. Inclusive. Four words that shape everything, from how classrooms are designed to how teachers speak to children. The approach is child-led, strengths-based, and proudly neuro-affirming. Difference here isn’t a deficit. It’s a starting point.
Under one roof, JAMI offers an impressive spectrum of support for children with autism and diverse learning needs. From specialised speech therapies using Gestalt Language Processing, Natural Language Acquisition, RPM (Rapid Prompting Method), and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), to a multisensory gym, primitive reflex integration and various other strategies for children who communicate beyond spoken words. Rooted in a deep understanding of the autistic experience, the academic curriculum at JAMI blends global perspectives with deeply individualised learning plans, nurturing each child cognitively, emotionally, and physically.
The moment that built Jami Learning, Lucknow- Founder Fatima Asif Suhail’s WHY
Behind all of it is founder Fatima Asif Suhail, and her story is as compelling as the school itself. With over 20 years leading an international Cambridge school in Muscat, Oman, a Master’s in Communication and Language Development from a leading UK university, and certifications spanning Sensory Integration, Natural Language Acquisition, AAC, and RPM (Rapid Prompting Method), a transformative approach that unlocks the intelligence of nonspeaking and minimally speaking autistic individuals, Fatima’s credentials are formidable. Autism has been at the heart of her work throughout, shaping both her expertise and her deeply neuro-affirming approach to education. But her why is what truly drives her.
Years ago, she met a young nonspeaking autistic boy, whom she calls lovingly “D.” He was bright, but completely misunderstood. Not trapped by his mind, but by a world that didn’t know how to reach him. In the absence of understanding, he was being tied to a chair. Where others saw behaviour to control, Fatima saw intelligence waiting to be expressed. That moment stayed with her. “I resolved: never again,” she says. Today, D is pursuing an Engineering degree.
Jami Learning is just getting started in Lucknow
JAMI is not just a name, but a promise. It began in a room where a young boy like D was misunderstood, and has grown into a space where children are truly seen for who they are. What started as a moment of clarity has, over two decades, become a school built on understanding, respect, and possibility. Here, difference is not something to be fixed, but something to be recognised, supported, and celebrated. For parents looking for a space where their child is not just accommodated but genuinely understood, JAMI offers both guidance and a community rooted in deep empathy.
