Jaya Bhattacharya, the popular TV actress was in the city on Monday, to kick off an awareness drive. India Green and Wild, is a drive about climate change and environmental degradation.

Organized by Jaya Bhattacharya, India Green and Wild is a campaign that aims at creating awareness among children about important issues pertaining to the environment. She has already been successful in conducting 50 road shows across the country and involving 250 schools in her awareness drive.
The climate is changing, glaciers are melting and global warming is almost old news. We today, are living in a drastic situation, we have destroyed our ecosystems and made it inhabitable and the most effected by this change are the children. Which is why, it becomes important for us to make kids understand what is happening around them and how they can do something about it.
India Green and Wild’s concept is simple. If you wish to educate the society, you simply have to reach out to the young people the future of the country and educate them about climate change. Explaining the disastrous impact of human action on the environment, the biodiversity and how can we avoid hurting them.
The march along streets was to make sure that the campaign receives visibility because the bigger visibility this campaign gets, the bigger is its impact. The material used to make placards and perform skits was also plastic free and reusable, so that nothing goes to waste.
Imagine the kind of impact a simple thing like this can have on the future of our planet!
