KGMU in Lucknow expands Orthopaedic Surgery Department with 120 new beds

The new bed will be added post-elections.

King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow is enhancing its orthopaedic care with the addition of 120 new beds to the Orthopaedic Surgery Department, announced on May 22. This expansion, set to commence after June 4, will bring the total number of orthopaedic beds to 280, making KGMU the largest facility of its kind in any hospital.

Of the 120 new beds, sixty are designated for paediatric orthopaedics, and the remaining sixty will cater exclusively to sports injury cases. These new beds will be located adjacent to the Rehabilitation and Artificial Limb Centre (RALC) building, ensuring seamless care transitions for patients.

Hospital officials added, "In the next two months, eight more faculty members will join, and new nurses have already been recruited, ensuring smooth operation of these beds." These improvements will provide comprehensive care under one roof, eliminating the need for patients to travel to different locations for advanced imaging services.
