This is also the first batch of 17 female drivers to have concluded their training at Kanpur's Model Driving Training and Research Institute.

Citizens in the state will now witness all the more women bus drivers in the service, with the fresh appointment of 17 women by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). In efforts to introduce inclusivity on the state roads, this would also be the first batch of 17 female drivers to have concluded their training at the Model Driving Training and Research Institute in Kanpur. This came after UP CM launched the facility for examination and training of women drivers at this institute in 2021.

“The applicants have been trained at Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) in Delhi where they were tested and later a group of 17 women drivers were shortlisted,” Principal of Driver Training Centre SP Singh said.
