In a bid to further its endeavour of creating and equipping shelter homes in Lucknow with better facilities, the Nagar Nigam has set up a new library at the shelter home in Jiamau. The inhabitants can now read and learn during their stay at the shelter home, which will help the LMC promote the value of education. As per reports, the civic body has also deployed two teachers here to conduct academic classes every day at 6 PM. Operated by Ummid Sanstha, Jiamau shelter home is notably the largest night shelter in Lucknow.
Setting up new provisions at night shelter homes in the city
Lucknow Nagar Nigam, under the leadership of Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia, inaugurated a library at the Jiamau shelter home to relay an educational opportunity to those taking refuge here from the chilly winters. Reportedly, Municipal Commissioner Ajay Kumar Dwivedi himself reached the Jiamau shelter as a teacher and explained the importance of studies to everyone living there. Other provisions at night shelters include TVs for entertainment and CCTV cameras for the safety of the people.
This move has been initiated under the vision of setting up various state-of-the-art provisions for the people in shelter homes. The LMC has also roped in various departments have been roped in to facilitate such amenities for the people, where respective officials have been tasked to spread awareness among shelter home inmates, for the same.
The night shelter upgrade in Lucknow
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation also has made several arrangements to set up night shelters across the city. As yet, there are 15 permanent and 15 provisional such structures in Lucknow, that are open to the public all around the year. These raain baseras have now been furnished with winter gear including quilts, blankets, bedding, beds, blower, bonfire, geyser and food facilities for the benefit of as many as 900 people. Special arrangements have also been set up to tackle emergencies that may arise during the peak of the frost season.
Notably, Yhiyaganj Gurudwara, Naka Gurudwara and Aishbagh Gurudwara will run langar-sevas at the raain baseras. The shelter homes of Mawaiya and Charbagh will benefit from this.
