The gyms will be equipped with modern facilities, while guards will oversee the area & maintain security.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is all set to come up with as many as 100 open gyms in the city. These open-air gyms will be located in numerous parks of the UP capital.

Comprising 16 urbane equipment, including an elliptical cross trainer, arm wheel, a recumbent cycle, comfort cycle, two persons parallel dip stations and bar exerciser, a walking bicycle chair, air walker with shoulder press and squat, among others, the development is aimed at encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

35 parks to come up by March as first phase

Additional municipal commissioner, Avendra Kumar said, "The gyms will be set up in such a manner that people can do all types of exercise. The gyms will be equipped with enough facilities and we will hire guards to ensure that the equipment is not broken or stolen."

There will three phases to this process, where in the first one, 35 gyms will be installed in Lucknow parks. These will include Govardhan Park in Gomti Nagar, Uma Vatika in Jankipuram, CID Park in Mahanagar, Gulab Vatika Park in Alambagh, among others.

This peg of the project is slated to be implemented by the first week of March. Whereas, the remaining phases will be executed by the end of the year, said official.

Executive engineer and project manager, LMC, Atul Mishra stated, "We have set a deadline to build open air gyms in 100 parks of the city in one year."

The civic body has marked the budget for the gyms at ₹12 crore from the CSR funds.
