Lockdown extended across Lucknow, Kanpur & other UP districts till 7 AM on May 31!

Lucknow has been observing a constant drop in COVID-19 cases for the past few weeks and now, the tally of fresh cases recorded on May 22, stands at 291. Holding this lowering count in view and to keep it that way, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared the extension of the ongoing lockdown in Lucknow, Kanpur and other districts, till May 31, 7 AM. Essential services have been barred from these constraints, to mitigate any related public discomfort.

Decision undertaken to lower the chances of a third wave

This decision has been put into effect to tackle the underway second COVID wave and also to lower the chances of a probable third wave, which might hit the nation in the upcoming months.

Till date, Uttar Pradesh has observed 16,65,176 confirmed COVID-19 patients and 15,51,716 citizens have also battled the virus successfully. As per reports, 4,64,19,134 samples have been tested in the state as yet and the test count has been marked at 3,06,548, in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, Lucknow's recovery rate is marked at 91.40% with 870 recoveries within a day and the city observed 21 deaths as well, in a span of 24 hours.

Alongside the extended corona curfew, the capital city is also under the blanket of Section 144, till June 5. It is also to be noted that any group found flouting these directives in the city, will be prosecuted under Section 188 IPC, by the authorities.
