Lucknow COVID tallies soar to a 6-month high with 25 new cases on Wednesday

Daily COVID-19 tallies in UP crossed the 100 mark on Wednesday

With 25 new cases reported in Lucknow on Wednesday, the city's COVID count seems to have soared to another high after a gap of 6 months. A total of 118 cases have been reported in UP in the last 24 hours, wherein Lucknow is the biggest contributor. Notably, the state capital had last logged in 26 cases on June 19, which makes the recent spike, the sharpest daily surge in about 194 days. Lucknow's active caseload now stands at the 99-mark in wake of this case explosion.

Among the new cases traced in Lucknow, around 17 had a travel history. This also includes 3 passengers from Dubai who were found to be COVID positive upon arrival in the city. About 4 army personnel were also found to be positive during the protocol screening at the airport, added reports. Details of the other 7 cases are yet to be released by the Health Department.

Of the remaining share, 6 patients were found COVID positive during contact tracing. 5 other cases were traced during the routine check-ups and travel tests.

As per Health Department officials, 5 patients each were found in Alambagh and Sarojininagar, 4 each of Sushant Golf City and Aliganj, 3 in old Lucknow, 2 in Chinhat and 1 case each in Bakshi Ka Talab and NK Road.

Notably, the infection swell has been identified to be a state phenomenon. In the last 24 hours, UP's COVID stats exceeded the 100-mark to record 118 cases. This share includes 21 cases from Gautambudhha Nagar, 13 fresh infections from Ghaziabad 11 from Murdadabad among other isolated cases. The total Omicron case tally in the state now stands at 4. Active tallies hover around 473 cases in the state.
