Lucknow Airport cuts closure hours amid extended repairs till Aug 15; new timings from March 21
The ongoing runway repair work at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow has been extended by one month, officials confirmed. Originally scheduled for completion by July 15, the work will now continue until August 15, 2025. However, starting March 21, the runway closure will be cut from eight to six hours, offering passengers relief and enabling 16 additional flights.
Lucknow Airport to reduce runway closure hours
In a major relief for travellers, Lucknow Airport will gradually reduce its runway closure hours, boosting flight operations. From March 21, the runway will shut down for six hours (11 AM to 5 PM) instead of the current eight-hour closure (10 AM to 6 PM), following a directive from UP's Chief Minister to minimise passenger inconvenience.
16 more flights from Lucknow Airport
The reduced closure will enable 16 additional flights on key routes, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore, with airlines like Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara expected to increase their services.
From July 15 to August 15, the closure will be further shortened to just four hours daily (11 AM to 3 PM), ensuring minimal disruption while allowing completion of essential work such as runway re-carpeting, lighting upgrades, and apron construction.
Although the airport administration is yet to issue an official NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), airlines and concerned departments have been informed about the revised schedule.
