Lucknow Airport opens 804-Metre taxi track stretch, full project due by March 2027
Lucknow airport has taken a step towards easing runway congestion with the opening of an 804-metre stretch of its new parallel taxi track. The upgrade is expected to help aircraft move on and off the runway more efficiently, reduce runway occupancy time and improve flight movement during busy hours. With air traffic growing, the development marks an important addition to the airport’s infrastructure.
Lucknow flyers could see smoother flight operations
The newly opened section at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport will allow aircraft to exit the runway more smoothly, freeing it up sooner for other arriving and departing flights. This is expected to reduce bottlenecks on the ground and help minimise delays caused by aircraft movement.
The parallel taxi track is part of a larger infrastructure project that will eventually span 2,864 metres. The remaining stretch is scheduled to be inaugurated by the end of March 2027.
The upgrade comes as Lucknow airport continues to handle growing passenger and aircraft traffic. While the new taxi track cannot prevent delays caused by bad weather or air traffic restrictions, it is expected to make ground operations more efficient and help the airport manage flights more smoothly.
