Amping up the city's guard against the fatal contagion, an instant RT-PCR testing facility has been started at the Lucknow Airport. Reportedly, on-spot RT-PCR tests will be conducted for international flyers under the scheme and 30 real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines have been set up for this purpose. As per reports, the current airlines' protocol mandates the presence of an RT-PCR report for passengers who are bound to travel abroad. Such international passengers have to provide a hard copy of the test report to the airport officials before boarding the flight. In addition to this, reports state that designated booths have also been set up for those arriving from foreign countries. Reportedly, the Chief Airport Officer informed about the count of the booths set up at the Terminal 1 of the airport.

According to reports, over 50% of the eligible population in Lucknow has received at least one dose of the vaccine after nationwide immunisation began on January 16. On the other side, it is important to note that only about 16% of the population has got both jabs, reportedly. Thereby, the citizens must take enough precautions and undertake all measures to ensure safety against the infection. Only when we assure COVID appropriate behaviour, the possibilities of an impending third wave will be mitigated.
