Roads around Lucknow's Awadh Chauraha to get free left lanes to ensure smoother traffic flow!

This step will ensure a rapid, smooth and streamlined flow of vehicles at this intersection.

One of the busiest road intersections in Lucknow, Awadh Chauraha witnesses long traffic jams on a daily basis. Keeping in view the problems faced by the commuters, the authorities have decided to set up free left lanes along the roads, around the crossing. The intervention will be initiated by the officials of the Public Works Department this month, in a bid to ensure a rapid, smooth and streamlined flow of vehicles at this intersection.

Over 1 lakh vehicles pass through the Awadh Chauraha daily!

These new lanes will be designed in such a way, that the vehicles headed for straight routes would not be able to enter them. If a driver takes the wrong path, he/she will have to return to the intersection after taking a long detour.

As per the PWD authorities, more than 1 lakh vehicles pass through this intersection every day. This includes inter and intra-city traffic. Besides, this road crossing connects multiple roads and notable locations in the city, making it prone to repetitive traffic jams which usher umpteen difficulties for the travelers.

Signboards to spread awareness about the new routes

Due to the humongous traffic load, a large group of vehicles queues up every time the signal turns red. Driven by this, commuters have to wait for long periods of time, before they can cross this intersection. Further, this also increases the problems for the Traffic Police, who have to regularly intervene and administer vehicular movements.

According to Executive Engineer Manish Verma, the free left lanes will be established on all sides of the intersection. It is estimated that an approximate amount of ₹1.5 crores will be spent on this project, slated to bring about permanent changes. Besides, the citizens will be made aware of the new developments with the help of signboards. These would inform them about the free left lanes and the wrong routes.

It is anticipated that the traffic woes of this intersection will be resolved once the upcoming lanes are ready. It will not just aid in better management of traffic but will also help the travellers save a lot of time.
