Lucknow will soon be home to India’s largest incubation centre for startups. The centre will be spread across an area of 2.5 lac square feet and will come up in the land opposite the city’s Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport.
Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation, the start-up nodal agency appointed by the government, is already in talks with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), a central government organisation, to build and operate this centre. The sole purpose of the startup incubator is to help entrepreneurs grow their business.
Why the need for a startup incubation centre?
The UP government has undertaken realignment of the state start-up policy in accordance with the start-up ranking framework, which resulted in the launch of new UP tart-up policy, 2020.
The new start-up policy, 2020 aims to be a part of the top 3 states in the state start-up ranking in coming years. The policy also has a goal to establish 100 incubators in the state by the year 2025, at least one in each district, to create a robust infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh for the start-up culture to flourish.
The new Start-up Policy of UP addresses regional imbalances and gives thrust to the uplift of weaker sections of society by bringing them into the mainstream of the business world with the help of additional incentives.

The UP government has also received a proposal from IIT, Kanpur to establish a Centre of Excellence on Artificial Intelligence in Noida. As of now, the government is working with the STPI to develop IT Parks in various cities such as Meerut, Prayagraj, Agra and even Lucknow.
