Lucknow's dengue tally zooms to 592 cases as 26 test positive in the last 24 hours

All dengue patients in Lucknow are stable & are recovering at home.

The dengue situation in Lucknow has aggravated further with the rise of 26 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. With this, the total tally has increased to around 592 cases. However, the dengue status in the city continues to remain stable despite the ever-increasing patient load. Reportedly, there are no critical cases in Lucknow and all patients are recovering at home.

Hospital to test all fever patients for dengue

Several key locales in Lucknow were tagged to be dengue hotspots. These included Sarojini Nagar, Aishbagh, Alambagh, Kaiserbagh, Aliganj, Indira Nagar and NK Road among others. Reportedly, the maximum share of dengue cases was reported from these areas. Dengue patients were also found in Mohanalalganj and Kakori, in the outskirts of Lucknow. Around 3 cases emerged here, indicating the spread of vector-borne disease across.

All hospitals have been directed to screen all fever patients for dengue, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Agrawal informed. The testing tactic will help the district identify and treat the disease in its nascent stage and arrest its growth methodically.

Studies have revealed that the female Aedes Aegypti mosquito is the carrier of the dengue virus and it lays eggs in freshwater accumulation in and around houses. Health Department officials have found the larvae of these mosquitoes in seven households and Indira Nagar areas added reports. Notices have been issued to these regions to look after the upkeep of hygiene for dengue prevention.

With unexpected showers in Lucknow, the likeliness of the waterlogging and breeding spots has only risen. As such, experts have advised all city dwellers to maintain prime sanitation standards in their houses and vicinity as a precaution against dengue.
