Lucknow Development Authority to soon go digital with the new paperless e-office system

With this decision, the administration is eyeing transparency in work while fixing the issue of accountability of officials

Moving ahead with the agenda of digitisation, the Lucknow Development Authority has decided to implement an e-office system for all the intra-department work, soon. With this move of going paperless, the administration is eyeing transparency in work while fixing the issue of accountability of officials. In a meeting conducted recently, the Vice-Chairman of LDA had directed officials to launch this electronic office system as soon as possible.

Plan to be mapped out in 3 phases

Notably, while the decision has been finalised by the administration now, this technology-driven solution was first recommended in 2016. Under the purview of this move, all the files including those concerning the sale or purchase of land will soon be uploaded on the e-portal of the LDA. Reportedly, the online portal will be installed at the State Data Centre or any space provider, authorised by both Union and the state government.

According to the officials, the project will be carried out in three phases. While the first leg of this move includes the preparation of new files via the digital portal across all sections of the LDA, all the current files will be uploaded on the portal in the second phase. Lastly, all the old files will be uploaded on the portal in the third phase.

To guide officials with the technology, one master coach, trained by the National Informatics Centre will be required for every 50 officers. Moreover, to ensure a smooth flow of operations, an expert in Linux and Java will also be appointed by the department as an administrator.

Technology-driven solution for the age-old problem of missing records

Soon the people of Lucknow will get relief from the usual, 'your files have been misplaced' as the LDA is set to go all-digital with an e-office system. Aiming to offer better service to the public, this initiative by the authorities will not only improve services and enhance the efficiency of the department but also help in saving the environment by going paperless. While the authorities have been asked to implement this system at the earliest, no official date has been marked for the launch of this move yet.
