In an attempt to check the spread of coronavirus in Lucknow, the District Magistrate has instructed officials to conduct focused COVID diagnostic tests at all entry and exit locations across the city limits. In addition to this, the DM has also directed authorities to ensure that paramedical staff in all hospitals are tested for the virus. Through this initiative, the district administration aims to arrest the possibility of a second COVID wave, as seen in some prominent regions of the nation.
COVID testing at the railway station, bus stop & airport terminal
Keeping in view the alarming acceleration in COVID numbers in Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and other areas in the country, the DM had summoned a meeting of top officials. At this meeting, a list of measures was resolved to make sure the contamination doesn’t speed up in Lucknow.
As a part of this, it was decided to conduct COVID diagnostic camps at all entry and exit points in the city. Amongst the locations notified for the testing, the district authorities will assure that all visitors at the railway station, bus stop and airport terminal are checked for the viral strain.
Rapid response teams & ‘nigrani samities’ asked to keep a stringent watch
Reportedly, the DM has also asked the rapid response teams and ‘nigrani samities’ to keep a stringent watch on the situation at hand. As per his orders, the officers in these special groups shall maintain a vigil on the imminent travellers and migrant workers from high-risk areas, deterring them from being sources of accentuated viral spread. Under this initiative, the rural regions of the city shall also be covered, under the leadership of chief development officers.
Meanwhile, COVID vaccination drives have been up-scaled in the city and the authorities are also executing measures to spread awareness. While it is necessary to block the virus spread, it is equally important to bring a large number of city residents under the immunisation cover as soon as possible.
Highest active cases in the state
With a confirmed cumulative tally of 82,213 COVID patients on Wednesday, Lucknow has registered the highest count in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, Lucknow has the largest number of active cases in the state, standing at 283. With proactive steps, the city authorities have been able to keep the situation under control till now.
