Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

Putting an end to the problem of vehicular congestion in the Sarvodaya Nagar area, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Ltd. (UPSBC) has constructed two new bridges on the banks of the Kukrail drain in Lucknow. Notably, the dilapidated bandha at the Kukrail drain was too small for the everyday footfall of 30,000 vehicles on this route.

With these two flyovers now open for the public, commuters can easily travel from Sarvodayanagar to Rahimnagar, Vikasnagar, Aliganj, Kursi Road Dandaiya, Mahanagar and Gomtinagar or vice versa. Built on a budget of about 23.25 crores, these overbridges with two 7-metre wide lanes have successfully cut short travel time by ending the traffic woes in the trans-Gomti area.

Owing to the increase in the number of commuters, the condition of this dilapidated bridge degraded further, thereby leading to the commissioning of this project of two, two-lane bridges on the Sarvodaya Nagar bandh. While the government had given a green signal to this road development project in December 2020, the construction work on this set of 89 metres long bridges was initiated in February 2021.

Flyovers benefit more than 50,000 people on a daily basis

Talking about the benefit of these overbridges, Ansh Gujral resident of Indira Nagar Sector 14 said, "With these flyovers, my travel time has been reduced by almost half an hour as this provides direct connectivity between these areas.

Arjit Kumar, another resident of Indira Nagar Sector 20 said, "These flyovers were very much needed for the residents of this area as with these overbridges that are functional now, I don't get stuck in traffic for 20 minutes in the trans-Gomti area which was a daily evening routine before this".

Additionally, as per the officials of UPSBC, these overbridges relieve more than 50,000 people from traffic jams on a daily basis. Regulating the heavy traffic congestions in the nearby areas, these flyovers benefit commuters travelling to Mahanagar, Aliganj, Vikasnagar, Dandiya Bazar, Rahim Nagar, Khurram Nagar, Indira Nagar and Gomti Nagar. Moreover, these flyovers also benefit residents of many nearby areas like Vikas Nagar, Mahanagar and Shakti Nagar, among others.
