Lucknow gets faster, cheaper rail links to Delhi, Rajasthan, with new Amrit Bharat trains
Commuters in Lucknow now have access to faster and more affordable travel with the launch of two new Amrit Bharat Express trains. Starting operations this Monday, the services open up two important routes: one from Chhapra to Anand Vihar Terminal and another from Darbhanga to Ajmer, both passing through Lucknow. This development marks a major boost to the city’s rail connectivity while keeping fares budget-friendly.
Overnight connectivity from Lucknow
The Chhapra-Anand Vihar Express (05133) will depart Chhapra at 11 PM, passing through Siwan, Gorakhpur, Barabanki, and Lucknow's Badshahnagar and Aishbagh stations before arriving at Anand Vihar at 8 AM.
Simultaneously, the Darbhanga-Madar Express (05587) will depart Darbhanga at 11 AM, traveling via Gorakhpur, Basti, and Gonda. It will leave Lucknow's Gomti Nagar station at 1:35 AM the next day, reaching Madar (Ajmer) by 6:30 AM.
To provide safe, affordable and faster travel
The Amrit Bharat Express is a new category of non-ac trains designed to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable travel for middle and lower-income passengers. Running mainly with sleeper and general coaches, these trains feature modern upgrades like modular toilets, improved seating, better lighting, and enhanced safety systems.
Initially running as inaugural specials, these trains will be regularised soon. Both trains are configured with eight sleeper coaches, thirteen general coaches, and a pantry car, ensuring a comfortable journey.
