The formal inauguration of the book fair at Hazratganj Metro Station, slated on September 16, has been deferred until further notice in light of the heavy rains on Thursday. While an official ceremony is yet to take place, the book gala has been opened to the public. As per Metro officials, the launch event will be chaired by the UPMRC Managing Director and will be scheduled soon.

The book fair has thrown open a range of must-reads for the visitors, including a variety of books in fiction, non-fiction, self-help and other categories. The response at the book fair, even in its short run, has been commendable, informed officials at the Lucknow Hazratganj Metro Station.

The organisers are strictly implementing all COVID-19 protocols here, to ensure maximum safety of the visitors. People who are not wearing a face mask or following social distancing will not be permitted to attend the kiosk.

"I travel every day via Hazratganj and it was very refreshing to see a book fair on the station premise. The provision stand was very clean, upholding all measures of safety and sanitisation. All kinds of books are on display here, which only added to my excitement and I am planning to visit again with my friends", said Shagun Chaurasia on her visit to the book fair.

Previously this month, the UPMRC had also organised an art exhibition at the Hazratganj Metro Station, building a platform to promote the cultural quotient of Lucknow. With this new venture, it is aiming to garner more eyeballs and attract more footfalls towards the metro service.
