1. Lucknow Metro phase 2
Still in development till the end of 2018, this year Lucknow metro will be at par if not better than other metro routes. With the new Nishatganj and Munshipuliya routes being tested and worked upon, Lucknow metro will be a sigh of relief for congested neighbourhoods and outskirts of the city.
The metro Phase 1 not only helped Lucknowites to commute faster but also cheaper as it decluttered the public transport system. The Phase 2 of Lucknow metro, which will make connectivity across the city even more seamless, is in the works.
2. Eight new flyovers will ease the traffic congestion
The construction of eight flyovers in the state capital will solve major traffic issues and declutter the roads. These include a flyover constructed between Tehri Pulia to Kursi Road which will be further segmented into three sections opening in Sector 20-Indira Nagar, Khurram Nagar and Tehri Pulia.
Two other flyovers planned by NHAI will come up on Rae Bareli road from Shaheed path to SGPGIMS and on Nadarganj road. Others include Bazar Khala to Charak Pathology (2.54 km long), Hussainganj to Rajendra Nagar (2.45 km long), Haiderganj to Meena Bakery in Rajajipuram (1.1 km long).
3. Outer Ring Road Project
This is another development which will make traffic woes a thing of past. The outer ring road project will decongest heavy traffic inside the city while connecting Lucknow to five national highways, six state highways and 104 villages. It will also link Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Rae Bareli Road, Sultanpur Road, Kanpur Road and on the outskirts of the city. The project will span to a of stretch 105 km and also connect Kursi Road with Dewa Road.
Lucknow is quickly emerging as a business friendly city and to cater to these needs, the government has decided to redevelop the railway station. The plan was proposed in 2017 and the project will now take three-long years to complete.
During the course of its renovation, the station will get a complete interior overhaul, making it no less than an international airport, complete with various amenities. The authorities have claimed the exterior will remain the same to maintain the heritage of the building.
4. A new airport terminal
Lucknow city’s Chaudry Charan Singh International Airport is a busy one. To cater to growing businesses in Lucknow, the government has decided to construct one more terminal at the airport. The additional airport will accommodate more flights, provide a direct connection to most of the world with international flights turning in and hopefully attract more investment.
5. Lulu Mall
Dubai based Lulu Group International is set to open North India’s biggest shopping mall right here in Lucknow. With a whopping ₹ 2000 crore investment this mall will have a built-up area of over 200,000 square feet. The Lucknow Lulu mall will have over 200 international and national brands (*wink wink SEPHORA), an 11-screen multiplex, 2500-seater food court, more than 20 fine dining restaurants and is expected to generate approximately 5,000 jobs.
6. Medanta Awadh Hospital
The much talked about and awaited Medanta Awadh Hospital will start its services in 2019. This 1000-bed hospital aims at providing super-speciality healthcare services to patients at reasonable and affordable rates. Coming up on 12-acre land, the hospital, will have 30 operation rooms, departments of ayurveda and unani, healthcare BPO, and various other facilities. The hospital will be a much needed respite for those who have to rush to Delhi and Mumbai in case of emergency.
It is a massive multi purpose complex spread across 56 acres and on Shaeed Path. Developed as the new cultural centre at Lucknow by Lucknow Development Authority, it consists of a cultural centre (art gallery, handicraft pavilion & museum), a convention centre/auditorium, central plaza, retail offices, hotel, serviced apartments, residential apartments and multi-level parking.
