UPMRC’s Lucknow Metro has created history by achieving the fastest and highest ridership recovery in India, post the coronavirus induced lockdown. The UPMRC has tracked 40,000 passenger footfalls per day, marking a record-high 67% ridership revival in Lucknow. The Managing Director has extended his gratitude to the city dwellers for choosing Lucknow Metro and showing confidence in the services, amid the raging COVID lockdown. With its exemplary safety measures, rapid speed, ease of commute and cheap fares, Lucknow Metro has emerged as the most favourable means of public transport in the city.
Landmark success for Lucknow Metro
In a press release issued by the Lucknow Metro, “This is the fastest recovery rate in the country as compared to all other metros whose recovery rates stand between 20-40%.” As per the release, Delhi Metro has achieved 20% ridership, the lowest yet. While Mumbai Metro has revived with a 25% rate, Hyderabad Metro is currently observing 30% of its pre-COVID ridership. Chennai Metro and Kochi Metro are running at 35% and 40%, respectively.
Lucknow Metro has also taken extra measures to ensure the safety of commuters, during these testing times. It was the first service in the country to UV-sanitise travel tokens and metro carriages, for the benefit of the travellers. Besides, Lucknow Metro has been able to achieve a heightened rider footfall given its economic fares. Travel through Lucknow Metro is about 70-75% cheaper than e-richshaws and auto-rickshaws running in the city, gaining the favour of masses.
