Lucknow's riverfront charm is set to be enhanced, with the construction of a new 100-meter-long pedestrian and cyclist-only bridge. This new bridge, standing 10 metres high, will offer breathtaking views of the Gomti River and the nearby areas.

To ensure a striking and functional design, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) organised a national competition, inviting architects from across the country to submit their innovative concepts. Out of 24 submissions, the selected design will create a unique and attractive structure.

Scenic views and cultural stories on the cards--

Set to be constructed near the ADCP office in Lucknow, this pedestrian and cyclist-only bridge will rise 10 meters high and span 15 meters wide. It would be fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary design, as per reports. Themes like "Gomti Gateway," reflecting the city's rich history, and "Kathak Bridge", celebrating Lucknow's classical dance tradition, are among the most striking concepts. Other notable designs, such as "Dev Setu" and "Smiling Bridge," also capture the essence of the city's vibrant spirit.

Beyond connecting riverbanks, the bridge will feature scenic viewpoints, recreational spaces, and decks, offering panoramic views of the Gomti River and passing cruises. It aims to provide a unique experience that blends architectural innovation with cultural storytelling.

LDA Vice President Prathamesh Kumar emphasised that the bridge will enhance tourism and promote eco-friendly transportation by encouraging walking and cycling. As the jury finalises the winning design, Lucknow is on the brink of unveiling a project that combines art, culture, and functionality. Modelled after Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront, this bridge will be a significant milestone in the city’s urban development and cultural revitalisation.
