Lucknow News | New Police Commissionerate HQ to be constructed near DGP Office in Dalibagh
The construction of the new Lucknow Commissionerate Headquarters has regained momentum. The HQ is to come up near the UP DGP office in Dalibagh, situated right opposite the back gate of Lucknow Zoo. On Thursday, a team led by Police Commissioner Amarendra Sengar inspected the site, signaling renewed efforts to expedite the project.
The Commissionerate system was introduced in Noida and Lucknow on January 13, 2020, leading to the appointment of ADG-level officers to oversee law and order in these districts. Since its implementation, authorities have been searching for a suitable location for the Commissionerate Headquarters, making the project a longstanding endeavor.
Proposed eight-story structure will house key law enforcement offices
A proposal was submitted to the government during the tenure of former Police Commissioner D.K. Thakur. The foundation stone was also laid on January 5, 2022, on the same site. However, the project faced delays, and now, with the inclusion of additional facilities, the budget is expected to increase.
Reportedly, the UP PWD has been directed to prepare a new DPR for the building. The proposed eight-story structure will house key law enforcement offices, including those of the Additional Director General Zone and IG Range. Police officials have assured that construction work will commence soon, bringing the long-awaited headquarters closer to reality.
