Heavy rains lash out UP capital; IMD says more to come

With the spell of incessant rainfall which has encompassed Lucknow from last night, multiple areas are struggling with clogged up drains and intense flooding. As a response, all schools up to 12th grade are temporarily closed.

The Meteorological Department registered torrential rains on a scale of 93.9 mm between Sunday to Monday while raising an orange alert for the next 12 hours. IMD has further advised people to stay indoors while warning about potential flooding in low-lying areas. Along with this, people should avoid seeking shelter in unsafe buildings and coming into contact with trees.

UP Police tweets 'Jawan' movie poster with a witty message to emphasize helmet usage

The UP Police have adopted an innovative approach to convey their messages. In a recent tweet from their official handle, they utilized a poster from Shah Rukh Khan's latest flick, 'Jawan,' to promote helmet use while riding two-wheelers.

Captioning their creative tweet with a witty message, UP Police states, "जवान हो या बूढ़े,टू व्हीलर पर बैठने से पहले, हेलमेट कभी न भूलें।" (Whether you're young or old, never forget to wear a helmet before riding a two-wheeler).

"Lakeman of India" to help in rejuvenating 20 waterbodies in Lucknow

The district adminitration along with local civic authorities will soon embark on the rejuvenation and beautification of 20 prominent lakes and reservoirs in Lucknow. Water bodies of various city areas including Sarojini Nagar, Mohanlalganj, Bakshi-Ka-Talaab, Chinhat, Malihabad and other areas are to be revived under this initiative.

Anand Malligavad, a techie turned lake conservationist, Anand is also known as the “Lakeman of India”, will be lending his expertise to enhance the aesthetics and restore the vitality of these water bodies.

Lucknow Police to now get a dedicated anti-fraud cell

Lucknow Police have established an Anti-Fraud Cell dedicated to the investigation of cases involving fraudulent activities and breaches of trust. This specialized unit will primarily investigate cases with monetary implications exceeding ₹50 lakh and will also address property-related disputes. The unit will consist of 22 inspectors and sub-inspectors who will receive specialized training in the field of fraud investigation.

The Anti-Fraud Cell will be under the leadership of Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Upendra Agarwal, who has prior experience serving in the CBI's Kolkata unit.

Fundamentals of coding, AI to be taught to UP Board students from 2024-25

With a motive to acquaint children with the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and coding, the Uttar Pradesh education department is preparing to launch a specialized curriculum for students in classes 6 to 8 within all state-run schools.

This curriculum has been meticulously developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). It will be integrated into the science subject and is scheduled to be introduced starting from the academic session of 2024-25 across all state-run schools in the districts of UP.
