Punjabi singer Karan Aujla has reportedly cancelled his upcoming tour dates in Lucknow on April 10 and Ludhiana on April 12. While Aujla’s P-Pop Culture India Tour recently saw successful shows in Delhi and Kolkata, these upcoming stops have been pulled from the schedule. Fans who booked the tickets to the concert received a mail clearly explaining that the show has been cancelled in Lucknow, due to “logistical challenges” and the refund has also been processed. However, no further explanation was given, nor there seems to be a chance of rescheduling the concert anytime soon.
Fallout from permission issues
The cancellations now appear to stem from challenges faced not just in Mumbai, but in Lucknow as well. Similar to the issues reported during the Mumbai leg, organisers in Lucknow were unable to secure liquor permissions from the authorities. Additionally, even proceeding without liquor permission came with a long list of stringent conditions and compliance requirements, making execution increasingly difficult. Faced with these operational hurdles, the organisers ultimately decided to call off the event.
This comes despite the overwhelming response to Karan Aujla’s Lucknow show, where tickets had sold out within hours—clearly signalling strong demand and enthusiasm in the city.
However, the situation raises a larger question: after hosting so many large-scale events, why doesn’t Lucknow yet have a streamlined, single-window permission system? A unified process—accessible across departments—could significantly ease approvals and encourage organisers from cities like Delhi and Mumbai to bring more events to Lucknow, instead of navigating fragmented and often unpredictable regulatory hurdles.
