Lucknow Municipal Corporation grants a 5% off to women house owners as Int'l Women's Day gift

Three prominent intersections in Lucknow will be named after women freedom fighters and queens.
On Monday, Lucknow's Municipal Corporation's official Twitter handle announced a special 5% off to all women owners applying for a new water connection or registering for property tax. This decision was taken in a historic, all-women house meeting conducted in Lucknow on the eve of International Women's Day. This all-female civic session was a big step forward to mark women representation in municipal bodies and the ensuing decision will now further enable women to acquire independent assets and lead financially stable lives.

An iconic all women civic house committee was hosted in the capital city on Sunday under the chairmanship of Sanyukta Bhatia, who happens to be the first woman to be elected as the Mayor of Lucknow. It was attended by about 35 women corporators who discussed and tabled several proposals for the welfare of women. Besides the 5% fee concession, the women-driven force also decided to provide zero-cost service to all women in the 86 'pink toilets' coming up in the city, under the authority of LMC.

Meanwhile, the house meeting also stated that three prominent intersections in Lucknow will be renamed after prominent female freedom fighters and queens. This decision will highlight female protagonists of our country, giving them their long-due attention. One of the areas in Lucknow will also be named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja's mother, Jijabai, stated reports.

Unlike other such meetings that lose their meaning in the cacophony of chaos and argument, the first-of-its-kind all-women house meeting was conducted peacefully. The attendees also floated other proposals for the benefit of women-folk in the city which the Mayor promised will be reviewed in the upcoming executive committee meetings.
