A special team of medical officers and medical students from hospitals across Lucknow will be deployed to implement this one-of-a-kind project. This project is set to include breast cancer check-ups as part of regular yearly tests to ensure early detection. Usually, this type of cancer is very common in women and is usually identified at an advanced stage.

Besides, the PGI will also expand the campaign base to detect cervical cancer in patients. Several measures such as awareness camps, check-ups and counselling will be provisioned for women of the Mondhanlalganj tehsil, for the next 2 years, regarding the same.

As informed by the SGPGI Director Dr. RK Dhiman, this campaign has been initiated as breast and cervical cancer, are the two most prevalent cancers among women. This project will make sure that women are educated about the causes and symptoms of the disorders for detection in the nascent stages. It will also help to bring down cancer toll in the city as well adjoining rural regions.
