In a move to ensure enhanced infrastructure for the city women, 40 new Pink Toilets will be established in Lucknow. Notably, 34 such facilities are already being constructed across different locations in the city and the proposed addition will further boost the objective of female welfare. Equipped with sanitary napkin vending machines and other women-centric facilities, the special toilets will assure ease and convenience for the females at public spots.

Stepping ahead with the plans, Municipal Commissioner Ajay Dwivedi has identified the land for the proposed establishments and he has sought information from all the councillors. Under the first phase of the program, Pink Toilets are being set up in areas around markets, across colonies, mohallas, main roads and other frequented places.

It has been informed that the municipal corporation has a sufficient budget to roll out the planned interventions. The councillors have been asked to furnish information regarding the name of the place, landmark and the area of the land, so that the work can be started at the earliest. Each of these toilets will require an expanse of 50 square meters. Besides having all necessary amenities, they will encapsulate a bathing area as well.
Amid the evolving face of the city, a string of interventions are being worked out to propel female welfare in the city. Given the will and commitment of the civic administration, an array of benefits can be expected in the long run.
