Lucknow Super Giants rope in Kane Williamson for IPL 2026
In a strategic coup, IPL team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has appointed New Zealand's legendary captain and star batter, Kane Williamson, as its new Strategic Advisor. The active all-format cricketer, who is New Zealand's highest run-scorer in international cricket, brings a wealth of leadership and tactical acumen to the franchise.
Kane Williamson, Carl Crowe, and Bharat Arun revamp coaching staff
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka confirmed the news, highlighting Williamson's "strategic insight, deep understanding of the game, and ability to inspire players" as invaluable assets. This move signals a significant backend strengthening for the team, which has underperformed in recent seasons.
Williamson’s IPL pedigree speaks for itself. In 79 matches, mostly with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored 2,128 runs, leading them to the 2018 final and winning the Orange Cap that season. His appointment as strategic advisor is part of LSG’s major coaching overhaul, which also sees Carl Crowe, former Kolkata Knight Riders’ spin bowling coach, join as the new spin coach, along with former India coach Bharat Arun as the bowling coach.
