In an attempt to increase residential avenues in Lucknow, the railway officials have intervened to set up a high-tech township near the Gomti Nagar Station in the city. Slated to come up in the Vibhuti Khand region, this facility is expected to be established across an expanse of 8 acres of land. Easing the process for further sale of upcoming homes, the railway has decided that it will give the aforementioned area to the construction company on a lease of 99 years.
Leasing process to be started by next week
It has been stated that Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), a railway body, will invite private firms in the market to submit proposals for instituting the township. As per the current plans, it is expected that the leasing process will be set in motion by the concerned authorities by next week and a private company will be selected to transfer the land. Notably, the intervention comes as a part of the station redevelopment program, under which the vacant lands are being used for commercial purposes.
Gomti Nagar Station to be revamped at a cost of ₹500 crores
The development authority has formulated a detailed plan to revamp the Gomti Nagar Station into a world-class facility. It is expected that a cost of ₹500 crores will be incurred for this program. Apart from the residential complex, other commercial facilities like a shopping mall will also be established. Subsequently, leasing works for different projects will be started within this month only.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that redevelopment of Charbagh Railway Station is underway and ₹556 crores will be spent for this purpose. If the proposed plans materialise into reality, Lucknow would soon house state-of-the-art station complexes equipped with the best facilities for the benefit of passengers.
