Officials in Lucknow to start home delivery of essential commodities with 8065 delivery executives

At 8:30PM on 26th March, we have updated the list of contact details for delivery of essential items

India as of 25th March, went into a 21-day lockdown which has been implied across the country for better protection against the Covid-19 pandemic. The lockdown has been put in place to ensure that the contagious coronavirus disease does not spread to a huge number of people in the country and can be contained. To ensure a panic is not created in the state capital and people get the basic amenities they require, Lucknow administration has put in place a home delivery system for essential commodities.

Through this home delivery system, the city admin intends to decrease the number of people on the streets and ensure citizens that panic buying will not be a necessity. The authorities have roped in 8065 delivery executives for the home delivery system, who will be responsible for delivering basic amenities to every household in Lucknow.

What's the update?

India is currently in a three week long lockdown to break the chain and stop the spread of Covid-19 disease. With the lockdown now in place people are in a state of panic, which means they're stocking up on essential supplies, looking for open shops and roaming the streets with the hope to get everything they need before the situation escalates.

However, to avoid such a situation and ensure that people are safely tucked away at home Lucknow admin has unfolded their expansive home delivery plan where over 12,000 vehicles and over 8,000 delivery persons have been deployed to deliver essential commodities to people in the city. These include milk, vegetables, flour, rice, cooking oil, toiletries and various other items of urgent need.

The government has also ensured that no person living on the streets, at night shelters or even at railway stations, will go hungry as they have set-up several community kitchens for this very purpose.

The home delivery system

The Lucknow admin has roped in major delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato, as well as hypermarkets and supermarkets, including Big Bazaar, Easy Day, Spencers, Big Basket and several others in their battle against Covid-19. The inclusion of these hypermarkets and the delivery executives will ensure that essential commodities and items of everyday use are made available to people.

This would also put a cap on any public movement as we are currently at and extremely critical stage in the cycle of spread of the infectious disease. This home delivery system will ensure that the public can place their orders and call a number responding to the hypermarket/department store chain in their area and get the items they require. People can simply call these services and place their orders.

We have included the images of the lists that have been made available. You can check the store, the area, the number of delivery executives assigned to the store.

Knock Knock

In these troubled times, we would urge our readers, the people of Lucknow to stay indoors, stay with their loved ones and help protect our community. We applaud the administration's quick response to make sure basic amenities are available to people and would like to salute the bravery of people involved in the process who'll be putting their lives at risk to protect ours.
