This decision comes in the wake of rising number of coronavirus cases.
Lucknow University has postponed its examinations until further notice, due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the city. The decision has come as a relief to around 1.40 lakh students who were earlier supposed to sit for the examinations from July 7. Considering the rapid spread of the virus, it is only safe to avoid large gatherings right now and thus, this decision was a much needed one.
Relief for LU students
Lucknow University, that is associated with as many as 170 colleges, had first released the exam schedule for its undergraduate and postgraduate on June 19. This was followed by protests from students and teachers who stated the impracticality of conducting exams during a pandemic and hashtags like #CancelLUexams and #BoycottLUexams trended on Twitter last week.
The exams have finally been suspended until further directions from the HRD Ministry and the UP Government.

Along with the students, this decision has also come as a breather to all those who would have had to conduct the examinations during a pandemic situation. However, at the same time, students must also pay attention to the fact that the exams are only postponed and not cancelled and shall be conducted when the situation and the government permits.
