Lucknow University rolls out new  ‘Shodh Medha’ scholarship for female Ph.D. research scholars

Lucknow University is now running 3 distinct scholarship programmes to financially aid students

The University of Lucknow announced the launch of a new 'Shodh Medha' scholarship programme to relay exclusive financial aid for female PhD research scholars at the varsity. As per reports, the benefit is being backed by the Student Welfare Fund (SWF) at the University which are amassed 150 applications for the same. Notably, LU is already running two other programmes, namely ‘Chhatra Kalyan Schalarship’ and ‘Karmyogi Scheme’ to financially aid students.

An initiative launched by the Vice-Chancellor Alok Kumar Rai at Lucknow University, the 'Shodh Medha' aims to encourage more women to sign up for PhD programme. Under the ambit of the scheme, the University will provide a monthly aid of ₹5000 to each beneficiary, for a maximum of 3 years.

The provision will take care of their scholastic needs, helping women to chart their careers in the field of academics and research, with ease. Here is the eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must have passed with a minimum of 60% in their term assessments.
  • The total income of the student’s parent or guardians does not exceed ₹3 lakh per annum.
Eligible students can download the form from the LU website or submit it at the office of Dean Students Welfare through the respective Head/Director and/or respective Dean of the Faculty. The forms must be submitted, with all required documents before the deadline on December 22, 2021.

As per reports, the Student Welfare Committee has received 144 applications for the 'Shodh Medha' scholarship as yet. The team, under the guidance of Dean of Student Welfare Professor Poonam Tandon, is presently scrutinising the forms and the list of beneficiaries will be declared soon.
