Lucknow Zoo's Natural Science & Terracotta Gallery all set to get a facelift soon!

With a budget of ₹1.5 crores, this facelift is aimed at showcasing the artefacts at the Natural Science and Terracotta Gallery in an engaging way

The Natural Science and Terracotta Gallery of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden in Lucknow is all set to be revamped soon. In an attempt to attract visitors, the Lucknow Zoo Administration will upgrade two galleries to present the historic artefacts in a modern way. Read on to know more about this modification work that is expected to offer a facelift to the Lucknow Zoo.

Notably, the Terracotta Gallery has 5000-year-old clay artefacts and other historic pottery pieces dating back to the 19th century as well. While the ancient clay pots were brought to the zoo from excavation of ancient sites, the administration has added rare bricks to the collection now.

Facelift of galleries

With a budget of 1.5 crores, this revamp project will showcase the entire collection of artefacts, which at present could not be displayed due to space shortage and the current display setting. In the Natural Science Gallery, the display of the ecosystems will be upgraded to increase visitor engagement.

Dr. Alshaz Fatimi, in-charge and assistant director of the Natural Science Gallery said, "With this upgrade, visitors will be able to get acquainted with different types of ecosystems and understand their functioning at this gallery." According to the Director of Uttar Pradesh Museum Directorate, Lucknow, Dr. A K Singh, after the completion of this up-gradation work, these galleries will be seen in a new style.
