Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Park of Lucknow recently welcomed four new members- a pair of Eclectus parrots and a pair of black swans. These inhabitants have been brought to the Lucknow zoo as part of an animal exchange program, from Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden in Mysore. In lieu of these birds, the Lucknow Zoo moved a pair of Sarus cranes to the Mysore Zoo.
Recently, the Lucknow Zoo also welcomed eight cobra offsprings, that hatched on July 13. Officials informed that all eight cobra infants are doing well under professional supervision.
The Australian birds in Lucknow Zoo
Eclectus parrots are primarily found in the Solomon Islands of New Guinea and northeastern parts of Australia. The male parrots have bright shades of green feathers, while the female parrots have bright red and purple feathers.
Similarly, Black Swans are water birds found in the wetlands of southwestern and eastern Australia and nearby coastal islands. They usually have black feathers all over, with white flight feathers. Adding these two pairs of birds to the 500+ current birds will be an excellent attraction for the visitors.
