Lucknow’s first-ever Vikas Deepotsav is the fest to be at this Diwali

The fest will go on in the city till November 5th

The 'Vikas Deepotsav', a nine-day Diwali fest organised by the Uttar Pradesh Government, was flagged off on Thursday. The inaugural ceremony was marked by a laser show and Gomti Arti.

Being held at Lucknow's Jhulelal Park, the fest is set to be a grand affair for Lucknowites! With its top-tier entertainment, multicuisine food offerings, fun rides, and competitions, the Vikas Deepotsav has something planned for everyone!

Small vendors and artisans to benefit

The State Government has taken this initiative to promote the businesses of small local vendors and artisans, to get them back on track after the pandemic interrupted their income. Over 1500 street vendors and traders have put up stalls at the fair. Artists and craftsmen from other districts are also showcasing their work. A similar fest is being organised for local businesses at 217 different places in Uttar Pradesh, including 200 Nagar Palikas.

The administration has planned a massive line-up of attractions for the duration of the fest. Programmes like a comedy night, a cultural night, a folk night and a Phoolon ki Holi are scheduled. Other attractions include various talent shows, painting competitions, magic shows, a slogan competition, a musical band show, a mushaira and even more! Spearheading these programmes today will be none other than rapper Badshah, who will make you sway to his famous tunes and groovy songs.

Third train set for Kanpur Metro arrives in the city

Kanpur Metro is expected to start its commercial services by the end of this month

Adding to the existing fleet of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the third three-coach metro train set arrived in Kanpur yesterday. Reportedly, with the successful completion of the trials undertaken by the Research Design & Standard Organisation (RDSO), Kanpur Metro is expected to start its commercial services by the end of this month. As per the officials, the fourth train set will arrive in the industrial city tomorrow.

SAI Lucknow to conduct Women's Hockey selection trials for NCOE on Dec 6 & 7

As per the notification issued by the Sports Authority of India, girls aged between 14 and 18 can apply for this selection trial

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is all set to conduct countrywide selection trials of the Women's hockey team for National Centre Of Excellence (NCOE) this month. As per the report, the trial will be organised at Netaji Subhas Regional Centre, SAI in Lucknow on December 6 and 7, 2021. In line with the existing COVID scenario, a negative RT-PCR report, not older than 72 hours is mandatory to enter the premises. 11 new AC e-buses to run between Rajajipuram & Deva Sharif in Lucknow from December 1

Public transportation in Lucknow is undergoing a change with the introduction of a new fleet of e-buses. These zero-emission buses are also being run on new routes in the city, boosting connectivity and making daily commute, a hassle-free task for the locals. Starting December 1, citizens will be able to catch the new AC e-buses while traveling from Rajajipuram to Deva Sharif. A total of 11 such buses will be plying on this route and travellers can catch one every 15-30 minutes.
