Lucknow's historic Amir-ud-Daula Library in Kaiserbagh is set to house a museum honouring Munshi Naval Kishore, one of India’s most celebrated publishers. The project, estimated at ₹2 crore, was presented and approved by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday.

Showcasing rare artefacts & printing heritage

The Naval Kishore Museum will feature vintage printing equipment, original documents, period clothing, and sculptures. Interactive display units and soundscaping will create an immersive experience for visitors. A section of the library will be redesigned to accommodate the museum, paying tribute to Naval Kishore, who founded his printing press in 1858 and published over 5,000 titles in languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Bengali, Sanskrit, and English.

In addition to the museum, the Amir-ud-Daula Library will be upgraded to international standards. Planned improvements include enhancements to the entrance and the installation of sculptures to attract greater public interest and footfall.
