Lucknow’s Indira Gandhi Planetarium has undergone a number of upgrades and is all set to reopen in a few weeks. One of the primary revamps is the inclusion of 3D/2D 8K technology, which allows the planetarium to play multiple movies at once. Earlier, only a single movie could be played here.
The new software is also capable of displaying the night sky from any location, with views of astronomical bodies from both the future and the past. Besides, the existing overlapping seam dome will also be replaced with a nano-seam dome. This will enhance the viewer experience at this iconic planetarium in Lucknow, which has been shut since March 2023.
Notably, all these upgrades have been completed at a cost of ₹50 crore. The new ticket prices and show schedules are yet to be decided.
