Lucknow’s KGMU is all set to take another step towards better health care for its patients. In collaboration with the University of Manitoba, Canada, they’re coming up with a brand new data center, helping them profile prevalent diseases in patients across the city. Furthermore, the data center will be modeled on a similar facility at the overseas University, and will be named the Center of Health Innovation.
The center will collect vital patient data for analysis
Once up and running, the new data center at KGMU will record important clinical data like diagnoses, genomic information of patients, familial relationships and patterns, which will assist in conducting risk analysis. The facility will not only enhance KGMU’s research capabilities but also help the government closely monitor changes in prevalent diseases and gauge their severity.
As part of the collaboration, experts from the University of Manitoba will visit KGMU to train students and faculty members in data analysis. As for the infrastructure, KGMU already boasts the necessary facilities such as the computer central networks between different departments.
KGMU will expand the facility into other cities if Phase 1 is successful
In the first phase of the project, the new data center will come up at KGMU in Lucknow. A decision to expand similar health care data analytics to other cities will be taken only after the first phase accrues desired results.
If everything goes to plan, the data collected by the center can also be used to develop an application that will be able to predict future risks regarding the prevalent diseases.
