Several stretches in Lucknow’s Mahanagar have begun to stand out following the latest round of beautification carried out under the CM GRIDS initiative. As part of the first phase of the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme, as many as 17 road stretches across the city are currently being upgraded.

The work includes resurfacing and maintenance of roads, installation of new streetlights, development of footpaths, addition of benches, and other civic improvements aimed at enhancing the overall streetscape. In Mahanagar, key stretches near Classic Chauraha and Chhannilal Chauraha have already undergone a visible transformation, while further development work in the area remains in progress.

CM-GRIDS brings infra & aesthetic improvements

As of now, the aforementioned stretches in Mahanagar have been fitted with brand-new designer streetlights, featuring heritage-inspired and ornamental designs.

Moreover, dedicated footpaths have been developed along these stretches, along with the installation of bollards to restrict vehicular entry. Permanent benches have also been added, featuring clear branding of “CM-GRIDS” and “LMC”.

With this, both electric and landline wiring in the area has been shifted underground, while trees along the stretches have also been fitted with designer coverings to further enhance the visual appeal.

More work is still underway, with the process expected to be completed soon. Once finished, these stretches in Mahanagar are expected to present a significantly upgraded and more pedestrian-friendly streetscape.
