Speeding up the developmental works of an upcoming COVID hospital in Lucknow, an IAF aircraft delivered medical resources and other essential in the city, on Friday. As the country remains enveloped amid the harsh effects of the second COVID wave, Lucknow stands perturbed by an acute shortage of hospital beds and medical supplies. Taking cognisance of the situation, the officials are involved in the process of setting up new a healthcare centre for the city’s COVID patients.
Defence Minister informs about the arrival of IAF aircraft in Lucknow

Speaking about this latest development, the Defence Minister of the country stated through his Twitter account, “The Indian Air Force (IAF) is continuing to carry out sorties from within India and abroad to cater to the requirement of oxygen in the country, amid the current COVID-19 situation. An IL-76 aircraft landed in Lucknow carrying supplies for setting up of COVID hospital in the city.”
After the supplies were received, they were deployed for the hastened erection of the COVID hospital, which is expected to relax the burden on the city’s overworked medical staff. The minister also informed that IAF has carried out 23 sorties from abroad, airlifting 39 oxygen containers with 670 metric tonnes of capacity till now. In addition to this, IAF has also been involved in intra-nation movements as it carried out 124 sorties, transporting 87 vessels containing 1,798 metric tonnes of medical necessities.
