The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation conducted a yoga session at the Transport Nagar Metro Depot on Monday, in honour of the 7th International Day of Yoga. As per reports, the activity lead under the guidance of UPMRC’s Managing Director and an avid yoga practitioner, Shri Kumar Keshav.
The session was phased into a mixed online and offline format to ensure the norms of social distancing amid the pandemic rage. Resultantly, only limited personnel attended the on-ground session, while other employees enrolled on an online forum to join the activity from their homes.
The Yoga drive at Transport Nagar
The Transport Nagar Metro Depot in Lucknow turned into a provisional Yoga centre on Monday to anchor a novel yoga session for a restricted number of employees. Spaced at an adequate physical distance, UPMRC officials practised yogic asanas or postures, pranayama and meditation, as an ode to the International Day of Yoga. A Yoga instructor was also invited here to monitor the sessions.
UPMRC Managing Director encourages all to tread on the Yoga path
Managing Director of the UPMRC Shri Kumar Keshav stressed the importance of Yoga and advocated its principle significance in leading a healthy life. Stressing upon the importance of yoga, Managing Director Shri Kumar Keshav said, “I have been practising Yoga for many years now and it has become an integral part of my life.”
He highlighted how practising Yoga has helped him to deal with his challenging and stressful profile work. He added that he manages to extract 30 minutes out of his schedule every day, no matter how occupied he is, to do Yoga. He added that his practice is a vehicle to align him with nature and strike an emotional balance, besides physical and mental wellbeing.
“On this yoga day, I’d say to all those who haven’t started devoting time to yoga, please start. Even if you have a very busy schedule, start by devoting 15-20 minutes to pranayam and yoga and you’ll start feeling a newfound freshness and positivity that you’ll never wish to discontinue.”
UPMRC & its affinitiy to Yoga
Besides, the UPMRC has always encouraged the science of Yoga and its impact among all its new recruits. It has been 4 years since the corporations has included yoga sessions as a quintessential programme of its 3-month training course.
For this, Metro Rail Corp. has hired a yoga instructor who is engaged in conducting daily sessions to teach the postures of yoga- asanas and their benefits. Here, trainees are also taught the art of pranayama and meditation and their respective importance
