Paving its way out of the troubled circumstances of the second wave, Mahoba has become the first district in Uttar Pradesh to be completely infection-free. With the latest recovery recorded on Monday, the district has no active patients of the COVID virus now. While this news has ushered a sigh of relief for Mahoba, it has also strengthened the hope that other districts in the state will be free from the fatal contagion soon.
From 150 daily infections to 0 cases for a week!
Applauding the streamlined efforts of the district authorities by screening, treatment and vaccination, the Chief Minister declared a reward for Mahoba. He said, “Mahoba’s success must serve as an inspiration for all other districts. It is attributed to the combined efforts of all residents of the district, including health workers, frontline workers and the local administration. The district will be rewarded if the current situation is maintained for one more week.”
From 150 daily infections, the case count has come down significantly and no new cases have been recorded for nearly a week now. District magistrate of Mahoba, Satyendra Kumar, affirmed that the focused efforts of the surveillance committees, local participation, timely provision of free medicine kits, large-scale contact tracing and planned containment strategy have been beneficial for the city.
Efforts by surveillance committees lead to early escape from the pandemic
363 surveillance groups comprising of 3,000 members have maintained strict monitoring and assured widespread provisioning of medical kits during the past months. Regular door-to-door tracking of households for spotting cases of influenza-like illnesses (ILI), was an important weapon against the virus. Besides, ASHA workers and Gram Pradhans were ensured sufficient availability of medicines so that the disbursement program could be executed successfully.
Positivity rate drops to 0.09% in Uttar Pradesh
For the first time in three months, less than 215 cases were logged in Uttar Pradesh and the state has 4,163 active cases as of now. Notably, the positivity rate for the state stands at 0.09% now and no new case was registered across 18 districts in the past 24 hours. Further, less than 10 cases were clocked in 66 districts and Lucknow is the only district with more than 200 active patients.
While the situation seems to be diffusing in the state, it is important that the state residents adhere to all stated guidelines and protocols. Warning the citizens against any lags or irresponsible behaviour, Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal, asked everyone to practice caution against the virus.
