National Medical Commission appoints Lucknow's KGMU as the nodal centre for medical education in UP

The programme aims at boosting the quality of medical education in the state by providing essential training to educators.

The national regulatory body of National Medical Commission (NMC) has picked Lucknow's KGMU as the nodal centre for medical education in UP, under its Faculty Development Programme.

The objective of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) as the nodal centre will be to train educators of numerous medical colleges and institutions in innovative medical techniques. The programme aims at boosting the quality of medical education in the state by providing essential training to educators. The overall objective is improve the wuality of medical education and result in forming skilled and knowledgeable medical professionals.

Introducing new research methodologies to medical educators

“It sensitises educators to emerging concepts in teaching and assessment methods and focuses on developing comprehensive knowledge and clinical skills to enable teachers to effectively perform their roles,” Chairperson of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board, NMC, Dr Aruna V Vankikar said.

An ongoing four-day workshop, which will equip educators with fresh methodologies in medical education (including teaching methodologies, curriculum management, research and project planning, etc), is also being hosted for the initiative. Numerous educators from different institutions across the country have joined the inaugural workshop.
