Renamed in 2015 as the Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary, this site is a wonderland for all enamoured by biodiversity. Touted as being the habitat for over 250 species of migratory birds, the sanctuary also provides a home to many reptilian varieties. Sprawling over 224.6 hectares of lush green fields, the sanctuary has beautiful birds like Peafowl, Sarus Crane, King Crow, Indian Roller and reptiles like Viper, Water Snakes, Cobra, Rattlesnakes and others.

While tourists enjoy birdwatching the most, the sanctuary also boasts of a 2.6 Km long cycle stretch around the lake in the centre. With a quiet walk or a joyful cycle ride, you can enjoy your day here in multiple ways! The sanctuary also houses a deer park which is a captivating allure for all carrying love for the wild. Additionally, the complex contains an interpretation centre for conducting detailed studies about the characteristics and behaviour of birds. In winters, the sanctuary welcomes a number of flying guests like Garganey Teal, Mallard, Purple Moorhen, Little Grebe, Spoonbill Duck, Red Wattled Lapwing, Wigon and many more. Located 6 and a half hours away from Lucknow, Nawabganj can be reached by a tourist bus or a privately-hired vehicle.

With 5 more cases, Mumbai shoulders 10 of the 28 Omicron suspects in Maharashtra

On Thursday, 861 travellers were subjected to RT-PCR test in Maharashtra to trace Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The tally of Omicron virus suspects in Maharashtra rose up to 28 cases on Thursday, with 10 cases coming from Mumbai. As per reports, a total of 861 passengers were screened for the coronavirus 'Variant of Concern', where a total of 25 foreign travellers tested positive. 3 traced contacts have also been put under the radar.

All suspected samples have been sent for genome sequencing to determine the presence of the new strain, read reports. The results will be revealed by next week.
