New 'Team 9' health-expert panel to look after COVID management in Lucknow & other UP districts

The Director of Lucknow's SGPGI, Dr RK Dhiman will head this first of its kind, focused COVID advisory committee.

In a bid to execute better management of the COVID crisis in Lucknow and other UP districts, the government has constituted 'Team 9', a special advisory panel of health experts. This committee will assume operations in place of the earlier 'Team 11', which has been fighting the pandemic for the past year here. As per reports, the new team has been restructured completely to include ministers and officials to improve coordination within departments and boost administration efficiency amid the second swell of the coronavirus.

For the first time, Uttar Pradesh will have a COVID-focused advisory health panel that would consist of ministers and officials, focused on effective pandemic management. The Additional Chief Secretary of Information, stated that the Health Minister and other top bureaucrats will also be a part of the committee to further progress and administration.

Besides this, several reputed hospitals and medical facilities in Lucknow, namely Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, King George's Medical University, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University and RML Institute, will guide the panel, among others. The Director of SGPGI Dr RK Dhiman will lead 'Team 9', read reports. As per the plan, each of the 75 districts in UP will have similar set-ups to monitor and subdue the virus growth at the grassroots and the related authorities will provide daily reports to the Chief Minister as well.

The role of this committee will be to develop a strategic response to curb the active surge of the multiple virus variants and mutations spreading around. The CM emphasised that this panel is required to diminish the ferocity of the flu, which has been noted to be around 30 to 50 times more infectious than the primary strain, reportedly.
